Hi, I’m Dewaldt and I’m the founder of Greenery. 

My plant journey started back in 2012 when I did some vacation work over the summer holidays at a large nursery in Cape Town. This is where I met Nicola.

A plant lover by nature, she always styled our apartment with the most beautiful plants. Many years and four apartment moves later, the only constant that remained was our apartments being filled with plants.

In 2018 I moved abroad for a two-year stint in Europe. I found myself living in a characterless apartment (without any plants).I missed home and finally realised the importance of having greenery around.

This sparked the idea of creating a business where we could bridge the gap between people and plants as big city life (and small apartments), can make us feel disconnected from nature. Knowing how intimidating plant care can seem, we set out to create an easy to use platform with all the necessary care instructions, inspiration and support any urban gardener could need.

We built our business from the ground up to provide a selection of plants for every style and budget to help you create your ideal urban garden.

But our story doesn't end there! In September 2021, we opened our first retail store in the heart of Durbanville and in December 2022, we added a cafe to the mix, a space where you can enjoy good coffee & food in between our urban jungle.

With Greenery, the adventure continues, and we're excited to have you along for the ride.
